Through The Sound Maker, Jaeger-LeCoultre wishes to highlight the greatest chiming mechanisms developed at the Manufacture since its creation in 1833. Inspired by the first Memovoxes of the 1950s and 1960s, this original version features an alarm with an iconic school bell sound combined with a date indicator, which scrolls through an aperture at 3 o’clock. Between respect for traditions and the cult of innovation, the Master Control Memovox cultivates the art of sobriety with a revisited caliber, double polished, satin-finish case-back and new Novonappa® calfskin strap, not to mention the open case-back of the watch, which allows the eye to admire the rhythmic dance of the new hammer on the peripheral bell.
The Memovox Master Control in stainless steel revives the aesthetic codes of the very first Memovox models with trapezoidal hour-markers, Arabic numerals, an alarm triangle, date indicator and emblematic crowns. They are all there, forming a perfectly balanced ensemble with absolute accuracy. In the inner disc of the sunrayed silver dial, the Memovox indication is displayed in full. To make the heart of the watch beat and trigger the alarm function, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Caliber 956 comprises a new hammer which strikes a bell at the periphery of the case, no longer the case-back. A complexity that can be admired through the open case-back of the watch.
As a nod to the past, the Master Control Memovox features a new Novonappa calfskin strap that recalls the color of the first Memovox straps. With a velvety texture that is pleasant to the touch, this high-end leather has been specially selected by Jaeger-LeCoultre craftsmen. Thanks to its natural color, which complements the silver gray of the dial and the case, this strap confers the watch with a modern-vintage touch.
